Sanner launch new 360 silica gel capsules
Sanner have launched a new range of silica gel desiccant capsules onto the market. Known as “360 Capsules”, they absorb moisture throughout their surface area, in contrast to conventional capsules which only draw in moisture through a single surface.
Based in Germany, Sanner specialise in producing packaging products to customers throughout the world, primarily for pharmaceutical products and medical technology applications. In these types of products, moisture can often be a critical issue, and so desiccants can play a vital role in ensuring that products are not spoiled while in transit.
Like most desiccant capsules, 360 Capsules have a small cardboard cap with tiny holes in it which allow the silica gel inside to draw moisture in. However, 360 Capsules have a unique design which utilises a series of tiny grids to ensure that air can be drawn into the capsule for de-humidifying no matter how the capsule is oriented within the package.
The new capsules are formed through an inexpensive injection moulding technique, and are compliant with the relevant US and EU regulations which means they can be safely (and legally) used within a pharmaceutical context. The capsules were officially launched at the 2011 Interpack packaging trade show.
