Jiffy bags granted SFI Chain of Custody Certification
Sealed Air, the world’s leading manufacturer of jiffy bags, has taken another step forward in ensuring that its padded envelopes are produced without causing unnecessary harm to the environment.
The packaging industry is becoming ever more environmentally conscious, and responsible manufacturers in the sector are doing everything they can to minimise their impact on their surroundings.
The Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) is a charitable organisation that seeks to ensure best practice in the forestry industry. Sealed Air have announced that they recently achieved an SFI Chain of Custody Certificate for their Jiffy mailer products, which include Jiffylite mailers, Jiffy Utility mailers and Jiffy Padded mailers.
The SFI certification means that the materials used in Jiffy mailers can be traced throughout every stage of the production process back to the individual forests from which the trees were sourced. It also ensures that these forests are managed on a sustainable basis in order to prevent them from being depleted.
Paul McEvoy, business manager of the Jiffy mailer product line, explained: “Jiffy mailers are one of Sealed Air’s flagship brands, offering a broad range of packaging solutions for small parcel shipping. Most Jiffy mailer products contain recycled materials, and the new SFI Chain of Custody certification demonstrates to our customers a further commitment to the environment and sustainability.”
