Recycled postal packaging highlights green issues
Businesses that use recycled postal packaging for their direct mail are more likely to be perceived as environmentally-friendly by their customers, it has been found.
Research from ONEPOST and published by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) found that one third of customers thought that if an envelope had a recycled logo on it, they would assume the company was conscious of its carbon footprint.
In contrast, half of people in the survey said that if a item of mail had polythene packaging they would think negatively about the business’ efforts to go green.
In a separate study, also by ONEPOST and the DMA, the charity sector was found to be perceived as the most environmentally-friendly industry in its direct mail postal activities.
While one third of the public took this view, one in ten felt the same about any other market sector.
Luan Wise, ONEPOST marketing manager, said: "Marketing activity has to work especially hard for charities so we are delighted to see them at the top of the table."
